#34 I Want You Back..... NOW !

Hey baby,

Its been 12 long cruel days and sleepless nights since i lost you from my sight. Not a moment passes when i don't think about you and worry about where and how you'd be doing. I think about you all the time. The loss is too much for me to handle. I miss you all the time. And so does my laptop. We both miss you every damn time when we need to transfer data or just play around with you. Miss the times when I would proudly flash you around and others would marvel at your beauty. You tiny cute little thing, i did every possible thing in the world to look for you, pestered everyone to give me any tiny lead about you, and even offered a stupid pendrive in return for you. Ohh I could give my entire fortune to have you back.
You are just so special to me, and so was the way you came into my life. The one who gave you to me is gone too, I can't afford to lose you now. I remember how he took the pains of ordering you for me and gifting it to me during the time I badly needed someone to take away my grief of parting with my final year friends last year. You may be gone, but I can't rest until I have you back. I'm so much in love with you. I confess I would secretly stare at you for hours alltogether when you lay beautifully on my study table and I would pretend to be reading, while i would actually ogle at you. I was too scared to let you know, lest you shall get angry. I promise I wont offend you now, just don't be mad at me and come back please. please :(

To the person who stole picked it after it got dropped, or the one who took it from me and dropped it somewhere , I really hope you choke a cookie and get a spaz attack return it back soon.

*sob sob*

In a childish tantrum + heartbroken lover's moans,

#33 Past imperfect, Present tense....

Today I opened the preparation material given by my coaching, something that I was supposed to have done 8 months back. But the proud owner of the lazy bum that I am, I kept procrastinating. After the CAT results and one Mock Test by another coaching centre in the city, some batchmates of mine have started fretting and begun preparing at a pace that makes us feel ashamed of our laziness. To avoid the embarassment and more importantly to pretend to be serious about my preparation ( and hence avoid feeling left out form the league), I picked up the Verbal Ability module book and picked up what i thought would be a cake walk- Reading Comprehension. Among the reading techniques and the deterrents explained, there was Regression that was stressed on quite a bit. It strongly discouraged the tendency of going back to the words and lines just read. It gets one stuck at the past thought and also slows down the reading progress to a great extent, resulting in a loss of comprehension and a lot of time.
This got me into thinking. Strange how the text I was reading as a part of my course had an uncanny similarity to the thoughts going on in my head since the morning, thoughts that kept me restless throughout the day. Isin't it very common in our lives for us to regress into the past? We tend to go back into the past thoughts and memories and somehow get stuck with them for a long time, and just don't know how to get out of them. We think we have well moved on with our lives and are doing just well will the present, when all it takes is one tiny memory from the past to hit our head and we start losing our composure. I have seen friends going about their daily life smoothly suddenly falling into the abyss of their hangover of the past- breakups, lost friends, unsatisfactory academic performance, family tensions, failure- anything. Its not the regression that bothers me, but the instant recovery is what I am seeking. Regression is sad. Its upsetting and unhealthy.

#32 The roommate who never was..

It was a cold Saturday evening, and I was sitting in my room watching a draggy movie when the phone rang at 7pm . "Hello?" I said.
A boy's voice came over the line. "Can I speak to Katie, please?"
I share my room with Natasha, and my name definitely is not Katie. It was probably a wrong number and I was bored.. I replied, "I'm sorry, she's not in right now. Can I take a message?"
"Do you know what time she'll be back?" he responded.
"I think she said she'd be back at around 10pm"
Silence on the other end... a confused silence. "Is this Rosa?"
My name isn't Rosa, either. This was definitely a wrong number. So
I replied, "Yes, it is. Do you want to leave a message for Katie?"
"Well... she said she would come to meet me in the evening and asked me to call her," he said in a slightly irritated voice.
“ahh…got a perfect entertainment for the night”, I sniggered to myself and so the devil took over..
I replied, "Well, she went out with Ben about an hour ago, and said
that she would be back at 10pm."
A shocked voice now: "Who's Ben?!"
"The guy she went out with."
"I know that! I mean... who is he?"
"I don't know his last name. Look, do you want me to leave a message
for Katie?"
"Yes... please do. Tell her to call me when she gets back."
He was sounding pretty irate at this point, and I could hear his temper
flaring. "I sure will. Is this Jesse?"
    He exploded, "Who's Jesse?"
Apparently he wasn't. "Well... she's going out with Jesse at 8pm. I
thought you were him. Sorry... it was an honest mistake."
"Katie's the one who's made the mistake! Tell her that John called her and he's very upset and that I would like her to call me as soon as she gets back."
I smiled and said, "Okay, I will... but Ben isn't going to like this..."
    *Click*

based on the incident that took place a couple of years back when i was in high school. I was alone at home, TV and internet had failed to amuse me ,and i was obviously in no mood to sit down with aldehydes and ketones. Ghosh whatever in the world were we made to do then in the name of STUDIES ?? The naughty kid in me, which is almost always dormant, had stirred up a bit..errr..as u might have read, turned devil in this case....
Its funny how recollecting past memories still manage to bring back that smile on your face and that twinkle in your eyes. Well Mr. John, whoever you are, I feel sorry for you. But now to think of it, you probably deserved it. You couldn't trust your girl even a weenie bit to realise your calling mistake. And you really have to get so insecure if she went out with a guy ? I mean excuse me?? Just that one piece of incomplete insufficient inconclusive information and you have to get that paranoid !! Serves you right, your bad :D

#31 Dirtiest prank ever

How do you feel when you are like this ".." close to achieving something you hadn't expected even in your wildest dreams, which by a terrific move of your fate is brought right in front of you that you start expecting it to be indeed meant for you. And then, suddenly by another terrific, rather terrible move of the very same fate, the thing gets snatched from you at the mere flicker of an eye, like it was just an illusion, a crazy trick for the mind. You somehow happen to make it to the top of an otherwise unapproachable cliff, and just step away from your destination, someone suddenly kicks you off the brink. And you are left bewildered at what exactly happened at the first place for such a thing to occur to you. When the thought of making it that close hadn't sunk in properly, your hopes are raised and then suddenly crushed in the cruelest possible manner..
So, what is the best way to react to such a situation? When you know it isin't your jig, but you are made to believe that it is , and then suddenly it gets taken away at the last moment.
The thing in question here being one of the most sought after companies visiting your college for internship recruitment, shortlisting you among 16 form the batch for the interview after a horrible written round, and suddenly in the midnight before your interview, striking 6 names off the list. Need I say what happened to G ?

#30

Hello. Long time. Yeah. Wont delve into the reasons for the hiatus. And wont promise to be regular from now on and gibber stuff like that. Just to let you know that I won't be here for some more time to come. I'm going out to search for myself. Its high time I did that. If you find me somewhere before I return, please tell me to wait. 20.5 years is a hell lot of time to chase the elusive me in me.

ps: happy new year in advance. I'll be travelling back to college on 31st n 1st, so this time my new year will be on the go. humph.

#29 Budday :)

My blog completes her(obviously :P ) one year today .. It has been amazing having her in my life. She, like a perfect friend, has let me vent out whatever i had in my mind, though most of it might not have made any sense at all; and understood even more when i did want to make sense but would fall short of words. There have been times when i would leave incomplete drafts and chose not to publish them. When i would open the dashboard, start typing my mind and suddenly decide to scrap it all off. When i would be unable to share my feelings with anyone and run to her, stare at her for a long time but feel at complete loss of expressions. When i'd get irritated and tired of her that i would contemplate dumping her(delete her that is),then somehow decide against it but not speak to her for long. She would still tolerate my eccentricity with utmost patience and maturity, and stuck around with me throughout. Cheers to the space that i am absolutely in love with !!

#28 CATastrophe

A complete wtf situation. CAT decides to go online, outsourcing the process to Prometric for a hefty $ 40 mn. Prometric is known to conduct the online exams GRE and GMAT for years now and since CAT is touted as one of the toughest and sought after entrance exams, going online to save on the paperwork and provide flexibility to students to appear per their will felt like a good decision. Only until the C-day.
Servers crashing, exams cancelling and mismanagement on the first day created chaos everywhere. I can only imagine the extent of inconvenience and trouble the examinees might have gone through, but refrained from jumping right onto conclusions and censuring the process simply because I felt this was the first time and certain hiccups were bound to be confronted with when one tries to introduce something new. But four days on and more than 7500 students unable to take their exam is extremely vexing. Instead of owning up or trying to provide some respite to already frantic junta, the authorities have been displaying utterly irresponsible behaviour with all possible weird explainations. Latest being virus attack .. Virus attack !! How could a virus possibly communicate with the computers, since it’s a Computer Based Test connected to a local server and not ‘online’ in the real sense. ( Or am I an ignorant here to have not understood the virus-deal? )
Leaving the technical snags aside, how does one explain the negligence and incompetence shown by the invigilators in the centres, talking shamelessly on their cellphones while some students suffer near heart attacks on failing to take the test and others desperately trying to concentrate on their tests through the mayhem. Also Prometric failing to make a dry-run of the CBTs well in advance to ensure the fool-proof performance (saving them the mockery they have made of themselves now). Din’t they announce that they were well prepared and had ‘strategies’ for, like they said, ‘terrorist attacks’ and ‘natural calamities’ ? These people really have a nice sense of humour I must admit.

Amidst the usual failure on part of the authorities to account for the faults and our dear ministry keeping a convenient mum over the matter ( yea, how come none of the politicians have come forward and blamed the other parties or our favourite “ foreign hands” !! ), the real sufferers are the lakhs of aspirants whose careers are at stake. I’ve seen some of my own friends taking CAT to be their life’s ulterior motive and who have turned nearly insane during the rigorous preparation. They were already showing symptoms of dementia ranging of frequent tempramental outbursts to anorexia to blackouts to insomnia as their test date was approaching. I just hope they don’t get a nervous breakdown if their computer screen suddenly refuses to load questions for them !
Its very unfortunate to see such a farsighted initiative landing in a fiasco. And its more unfortunate to see the way these people aren’t even able to manage the situation properly ! Weren’t they supposed to be the management gurus?
Announcement of CAT going online next year too is what gives me the jitters now, since I am also supposed to ( until I change my mind which I think I should contemplate) sit for the exam.

#27 Sweet nothings..

I’m always fascinated as well as envious of those who can produce reams of stuff anyday, anytime and on any theme. Penning comes as naturally to them as procrastination to me. I can sit for hours ( you know what I mean! ) staring at my laptop, fingers poised on my keyboard in apt readiness to capture whatever thought might issue from my brain before it disappears somewhere in the cosmos.. but nope.. nothing.. nada.. zilch…
Not that thoughts don’t cross my mind, rather they swarm it in a huge crowd that it puts me in a fix over which ones to catch hold of for gibbering over.. Try as I might, they simply don’t lend me a favour to being converted to blog posts, or any piece of writing for that matter.
I remember promising myself in the beginning of the semester to cultivate the habit of reading a lot more and writing more frequently and on topics that’ll broaden my horizons about the world affairs. you know, part of the maturing venture. The semester came and went by in a jiffy, and I am yet to start working on my resolution.. Amidst all the college activities, classes, coaching, societies and ofcourse the college magazine that kept me on my toes throughout the semester, I couldn’t find the will and energy for extra read or writing. And I am supposed to learn time management..
Me, sigh.

Ps: The semester( which has absolutely baffled me for ending faster than it had started) ended on a very sweet and motivating note. Can’t resist mentioning about the evening we spent with Pathik, one of the mostest loved and respected seniors in our college. Despite graduating form the college last year, he is still popular and looked upto by scores of juniors like me, who could not stop grinning for a long time after meeting him. Had a very long and much needed talk with him about a lot of matters, which left me satisfied and happier in the end, and helped me answer a lot of questions I had been asking myself since long. You know there are times when you know you have some issues to resolve with yourself and with others, but cannot figure out why and how, or sometimes what those issues are at the first place. And all you need then is a conversation with someone who shows you a sense of purpose and meaning to whatever is going through your head. I felt the same after meeting him yesterday. We don’t know each other too personally, but the guy’s presence spelled warmth and positivity, and left me feeling much more secure and driven towards doing things that matter and need to be done, at the professional academic or personal level. Hey you, thanks a lot :)

#26 Mysteriously Insane !

1:20 am. Its one of those times of the day when you ought to have been snoozing like a crazy log but you are instead sitting as alert as owl..

I am studying ( aint that obvious :P ) for an exam which starts in a matter of just 12 hours..

Even though I am terribly nervous regarding my level of preparation of an equally terrible subject that involves terrible cramming, I'm still shamelessly whiling away my time in the most meaningless ways.. While I type this post, my mind is rattling with a series of random crazy ideas, which gets me figuring. Isint it so weird what all can one's mind do even in the strangest of situations, like texting your friends you hadn't kept in touch with since ages, rummaging through your picture gallery, recollecting silly nursery rhymes with your roommates ( what was I thinking?? ) and laughing insanely until your jaw starts to hurt when you're in such a pressure-cooker situation!

Well, I figure one's mind is a mystery of sorts.

And will hope to figure out the solutions (hopefully) after my exams..

cuz the tension is finally mounting over me NOW!!!

#25 Dear Life : Slow Down a Bit , PLEASE !

Remember how i was yapping in my last post about how certain things in my life were changing so fast...? One of them being getting a two-wheeler, something i had nearly sweared in school time never to even ride on, let alone getting a one for myself. For i considered it one of the most unsafe vehicles on road and i was too scared of hurting myself in a raod accident.. Well, seemed like life does want me to break my shell real fast, and before i could get accustomed to driving my vehicle, i met with an accident. A minor one though, but still it feels horrbile to have fallen off the vehicle for no good reason, that too when i was riding pillion and not driving. Fortunately, just a few abrasions and stabbing sprain in the leg, no fractures or displacements to the much dismay of some devil friends of mine who were wishing for atleast a few broken bones so they could have the 'privilege' ,as they say, of getting rid of me and my blabbering for a few weeks. Though they insist they would have definitely come to visit me at the hospital to have a good time watching me helpless and incapable of thrashing them for making fun of me. And for some girfriends who mentioned how disappointed they were when i returned from the hospital with just a tetanus injection and painkillers in hand, shattering their plans of stayin out of the hostel in the nights, bringing me flowers and chocolates and even "pink-ifying" the hospital room if i were to stay there for long.. How utterly touching, i must say !!
So, my foot is dressed royally, and im not able to flex it properly. But after a night's bed rest, i'm back to jumping and hopping around ( how can i not! ) with a limping gait ofcourse.. I just hope the pain subsides and the wounds heal soon, cuz after 2 days of trying to take it in light spirits and working consciously on not letting the injury bother my activities, it still does hinder my daily chores, especially the sponsorships work of Ripple (which incidently got postponed for a week!)
Well, on a positive note though, i'm having the time of my life being cared and looked after for, feels so nice to have friends flocking my room/ in the class to ask for my health and being treated in the canteen ( by the devil friends obviously) and getting meals served to me right in my room.. Im having as much fun being given a vip status as much as wanting to get out of this handicap ASAP ! life can really get so funny...

#24 Ramblings...

There are times when you feel so strong about expressing, but cannot figure out what exactly is going on in your mind. But you know you should because thats the only thing that'll keep you from doing things you shouldn't do. Yeah, pretty confusing, as much as for me as for anyone who even bothers to read this. I realise i have got into this phase since a long time now and cant figure out how to get out of it. Life has been going faster than i can keep up with it, and before i can get a grip of what happened at one juncture, just then another event turns the whole scheme around and leaves me addled..
All this time you were too hung up on certain tiny things in life you thought held some significance, and all it takes is one little incident to signify how important it becomes to break out of your intertia. Or maybe u already have, but never wanted to acknowledge. Its strange how unconsciously you start to resist changes and decisions, as trivial as holding on to your broken-unreliable-good-for-nothing-piece-of-box you call your cellphone or ignoring your roomie's requests to change the wallpapers to something girlie ( well..PINK!! ) or holding onto the decision of never riding a 2-wheeler only cuz you lost a friend to an accident once.. All it took were some freak people and chances to break that shell i had created around me. One I just dint want to break even if i wanted to, only cuz it had got engrained in my existance and i had resigned to it..
Sometimes, the weirdest things can happen in the weirdest ways and just when you think life is going somewhere steadily, fate decides to show you that she's still there and you must not take any juncture of life for granted..

#23 I'm a driver now :P

I just gave my driving test today .. As I already told u a few days back, i’ve been driving for almost 5 years now. Solely because I used to feel very bad when my parents had to take off time from their busy schedule to pick/ drop me off everytime I had to commute. Not that they complained, but it jus felt horrible for making them rush from one corner of the city to act driver to me,for silliest of reasons as going to a friend’s place, buying a magazine or even getting new ribbons for school !! So, I wanted to get independent in doing these petty jobs myself and not bother my parents anymore. Then, driving came to my rescue when in 11th-12th, I had my entrance coachings and it was difficult for my mom or dad to drive me to and back from the institute daily. So I had a car to myself…( but with a learner’s license ofcourse).
Somehow I jus couldn’t find time within the validity period of my learner’s license to give a driving test. later on I went off to the college, and getting a license was out of the question.. Many friends suggested I could get one made easily through agents. I just needed to grease their palms a bit. But my dad, an honest citizen that he is, was obviously reluctant and insisted on going the legal way no matter how long it takes. Thanks to the extremely loooong sem break this time, I got my learner’s license renewed a month back and just about managed to obtain my test date for a day before I am to head back to college..
Believe me, no matter how good/ confident you are at a thing, you are bound to freak out during the ‘D-day’ . Atleast that’s true in my case. And I fail to understand why was it such a big deal when all I had to do was drive in front of a bunch of people and show them that I could move the car through tough turns too and that I had a decent sense of traffic signs/ signal/ rules. Isint that what I normally do ?? Still, my heart was pounding badly, and the fact that the ‘examiners’ as well as my dad were watching me was nerve racking, despite all the assurances from dad that it was ok even if I dint make it through.. I seriously thought I wont be able to even start the car, and that I should’ve gone for the easier path in getting a license made, instead of this mini-trauma.. Most of all I dint want to disappoint dad.

Yeah so I finally gave the test... and I PASSED !!! the instructor said I drove well. I’m sooo excited and happy, more so because my dad wanted me to do it the legal way. We both are like proud of each other today :)
yeyyy

Btw, my vacations have ended and I’ll be leaving home tomorrow morning :(
and reach the college and hostel and meet my friends the day after :) :)

#22 And i turn Twenteen !!!

Twenteen ??? well, I refuse to acknowledge im out of teenage now.. Simply because it is expected out of you to behave like a ‘matured adult’ as soon as you are out of your teenage. And while the midnight unfolded a new year for me, I sat there in front of the mirror waiting for that so hyped ‘maturity’ to enter into me..you know, just like in the movies where those spirits enter your body and you suddenly transform into some other character altogether ! lol
Since nothing of that sort happened, and I feel pretty much the same as I was a day back and all the time before that, I conclude that the whole issue about pretending to be someone else just for the heck of getting older is just some hogwash that people try to psyche you with... Comeon people, how can you measure a person’s level of maturity and intellectual (or mental or physical or spiritual or whatever that suits you) growth just by the number of years he’s spent ? Does an older person necessarily be more matured?? And does one have to necessarily get away with the kid in him and get intoxicated into the mean selfish ways of the world, to prove that he is indeed an adult ?

This birthday had nothing very blatantly special about it, if u may ask. Like every year, this birthday too was a low key affair at home during summer vacations. Not a great fan of huge birthday bash at home, ( which will definitely happen a few days later with my friends, and another few days from then in the college :P) i preferred to have a quiet, simple celebration with family and a few cousins. But what made the day extra special this time is the love and affection people displayed when they went out of the way in making the day the most rememberable one. The unexpected calls, the surprise gifts getting delivered at home, just the simple fact that people remembered when I least expected them to and made their own little contribution in getting that smile on my face…was much more than I could’ve ever asked for. These are the times when I get to know who my loved ones really are, how some people can mean much more to me than I had really thought, and how illusioned I had been to think of some people as friends when they dint bother in the least to even wish. I just love occasions like these for this reason, wish they came more than once in a year..perfect time to test your relations.. *nasty grin*

With this I also realise how important it becomes to make a difference to someone else’s life, more than brooding about your own. Touching someone’s life or making him feel special in your own little way can get so much more gratifying than all the pompous parties thrown together. And to do something special, we really don’t need any special occasion, because every day is special. Birthdays are just checkpoints. To analyse and evaluate if we’ve done things we wanted or should’ve in order to bring some happiness to someone else, or as reminders to set out to do them before it gets too late.. ( who said resolutions were meant to be for new years only? )

PS : I realise as I finished typing it, the clock hands have gone well past midnight, and so I complete 20 full years of my worthless existence on this earth. An existence that is really very special and blessed, and to be cherished and lived to the fullest :)

#21 Road mannerism, an obsolete concept ??

I was driving back home from the university in the evening, when a speeding car suddenly zipped past mine. Before I could gather back my senses, it had already hit a scooty which immediately fell down…and the guy simple drove away without even bothering to slow down to see what he had done. Can u imagine ?? Unable to follow suit, I simply stopped my car at a corner, and went to the girl to offer any help. Luckily she wasn’t hurt except for a few scratches, and got back onto her vehicle soon. While I was returning to my car, I couldnt help observe people around giving me dirty looks. I couldn’t comprehend what in the world could I have done to deserve such a reaction, so I just shrugged and kept walking.
I could understand only when a man closeby shouted….Chhoti si bachhi ho, gaadi theek se chalani nahin aati, toh kyun chalane ki koshish karti ho?? accident kara diya na ( U little girl , if u don’t know how to drive properly, why do u ? See, you caused an accident! )…. I was too shocked to be able to utter anything, so expressed my feelings with an outrageous stare at him.
~ aise kya dekh rahi ho, konsi class main padti ho, kitni umar ki ho? (What are you staring at? Which grade do u study and how old are you?
~engineering, 3rd yr... agle hafte bees saal ki ho jaungi. ( Next week,I’m turning 20)
~achha !! nayi nayi gaadi seekh rahi ho? (Ohh really, still learning driving?)
~5 saal se chala rahi hoon. (Been driving since 5 years)
The guy was quiet, perhaps to cover up for his embarrassement, he impudently turned around to his wife and remarked, ladkiyon ke haath main gaadi deni hi nahin chahiye (Girls should never be given a car to themselves)
I was stunned and completely at loss of words.

And I still am. Can’t figure out what to brood over more. Is it now in our DNA to assume that the one helping a fallen person back on his vehicle is actually the one who threw him off?? Or is the society so conditioned to be patriarchal, that it can’t digest the fact that a female can drive pretty normally, without causing an accident.

#20 Are we really safe ?

In an act displaying both ignorance and disregard for human life, Punjab cops ask passersby to hoist a motorbike, apparently loaded with explosives, onto a truck. The bomb squad wasn’t called in, even as the truck was to pass through crowded Chandigarh roads

This is how the great Indian police takes care of bombs.. Needless to say, im totally shocked and aghast.. Guess we should think twice before teaching kids to contact the police if they see an unattented suspicious object lying around.. I'm completely speechless at the extent of idiociy some of our men in uniform can display.

#19

I intended to write, rather type a long post today, non-emo , for a change :P
But now im looking for something that saves me the efforts i had to make to move my ass and brushing aside my passion of procrastination and laziness in playing with the english words to come up with something that qualifies close to being called a 'post'...But english language ( or any for that matter) yet again , seems incapable to translating my emotions exactly into words right now.
Had an eventful day, with ironically nothing much 'eventful' happening. A dull drowsy morning cleaning the trash my room had become, followed by a gloomy hot afternoon glued to the television .Had only one thing to look forward to, a nice evening and a long drive with fellow blogger and friend, Vandana. Had promised her yesterday to go mug shopping for her. Thankfully, she was sweet enough to put the details here and so i cut the post short ;)
Goodnight people..

PS: A few of my college friends arrived in the city today.. my two tech-grandads and their friend :D :D :D
I'm soo excited about meeting them tomorrow..even after them graduating from the college .. yeyy

#18 Random Reflection..

What happens to you when you discover that somebody whom you had considered a close and trustworthy pal hasnt been as sincere and honest to you, rather had always compelled you to question your own decisions and challenge your beliefs ?
Violins playing sad notes suddenly appearing in the background?
Loud metallic sounds ? Crash ! boom ! bang ??
An exquisite crystal artpiece falling in slow motion and shattering into a thousand pieces with your heart echoing every sound it makes ??
One full- fledged intensely melodramatic script forming in your head, waiting to blurt out right at the next confrontation?

Nope..
You just get up and go about your days like any other day with routine precision. You talk, you smile, you eat, you go out, you drive, you meet people, you respond to calls , you mail and mail back, you socialise, you scrap-ping-comment-tag on your online network...only at the back of the mind it seems that you have misplaced something somewhere - and when you sit and think about it, you realise it is some tiny little part of you that is probably dead.

#17 Freedom..

Birds symbolise freedom in its true essence. Everytime I see a bird in gently swooping down on a branch of a tree and breaking into a full throated song, I feel a longing deep within to join the bird on its next journey so I can learn its detachment to roots, its perseverence to rebuild every spring and most importantly its ability to let go and still be able to sing. This is something i'm still struggling to learn. To have a control on one's emotions and not let the emotions take over.To be completely in control of one's life - to be totally free and write one's own script all along the way. To be able to be here - in the middle of it all, love without owning, give without seeking, care without brooding, have without craving and live without holding -Is that not the essence of being free? Amidst all these worldly entanglements and cobwebs of life, work, responsibilites, relationships.. haven't we acutallly lost the real free spirit in us ? Does the song ever come naturally ?

#16 When the cook in me was born :D

What happens when G is back home…?? She gets lazy to the highest order, obviously :P
What happens to her mum ?? She starts off with the much expected universal motherly harangues of G not taking any interests in the kitchen and still not being able cook anything on her own and how is she going to manage once she gets a job / gets married …blah blah..
What does G do ?? She hears but doesn’t listen, mum’s rantings falling on deaf ears. She replies with a groan, and gets back to quiescence again ;)
What does her mum do ? She gives up all hopes on G, praying to the Lords to instill some ‘lady-like’ responsibilities in the kid one fine day…
Then what happens when her mum n dad go out of city for a few days ? G decides to surprise her mum by cooking something for her :) The night they were supposed to return, she cooks ladyfingers with no darn idea in the world about which all ingredients to put and in what proportions. Relying on friends' instructions on the phone and a vague sense of approximation, she nervously sets out for the mission..

Then what happens to the concoction?? hmmm… looks pretty much like ladyfingers…tastes like the same too….except for……….omg….a little extra salt !! Dang !! G cannot even make a simple veggie to please her mum :(
What does G too.. prepares herself for another nice lecture from her mum when she returns. And brushes off all hopes of shopping with her this weekend..
What happens when her parents return late in the night?? Tired and exhausted, they freshen up and ask if there is something left of dinner to eat. G quietly serves them the veggie she made, fingers crossed, prayers on.

Mum’s reaction?? Scowl…?? no wait…… Frown?? …. Anger…??
naaaaahhh….
one sweet smile, a hug, and her words that this was one of the tastiest things she’s ever had…
G….?? couldn’t have felt happier... She aint a bad daughter afterall ;)

#15 Joke Sabha results...!!

Probably the first time im properly following elections and the results... Can't help getting excited and apprehensive at the same time about how the things are going to shape up in a few hours from now.. Though not too passionate about politics and the dirty games involved,i do feel strongly for having a strong stable honest and a good governance for the country.. Can't stand to see power hungry and good for nothing but mud slinging bunch of jokers running the country..
whoa..as i type this, the news channels show UPA leading the count with an overwhelming 229 seats uptil now... So do we see it as the first party to return to power after completeing 5 years of term at office since 1984?? Can't help but wait and watch the great Indian tamsha and the battle to rattle...with the common man struggling as ever....
